Red Robin Gluten-Free Menu: You’ll Love What You CAN Eat!

Dining out with celiac disease can be a challenge. I love when I find a reliable restaurant that can safely feed me and my daughter. Red Robin is one of a small selection of restaurant chains I trust.

It is a favorite in the gluten-free community for two reasons:

  1. So much of Red Robin’s menu can be made gluten-free.
  2. Red Robin has an excellent system for handling food allergies and celiac disease.

Red Robin’s Gluten-Allergy Protocols

Red Robin Restaurants have the following allergy protocols:

  • Certified master allergen trainers
  • Safety protocols to prevent cross-contact with gluten
  • Digital allergy menus, for the latest allergen information
  • A “purple pick” in your meal, letting you know your food was prepared according to allergy protocols

Red Robin is a rare exception in the world of chain restaurants. Check out Red Robin’s Allergen Promise to you:

We pledge to give Guests the confidence to enjoy more of our menu regardless of restrictions. Our Certified Master Allergen Trainers are continually enhancing our program and providing the most current data. Our kitchens are alerted of every allergen request so dedicated tools can be used to prevent cross-contact. The purple pick identifies each allergen-accommodated meal and provides confidence that precautions have been taken.

Red Robin’s Allergen Promise

Disclaimer: Red Robin is not a dedicated gluten-free restaurant. While the staff takes significant measures to prevent cross-contamination, there is still some risk of gluten cross-contact when dining in a restaurant that is not exclusively gluten-free.

I have celiac disease and personally feel safe dining in Red Robin restaurants. I always follow the following 5 Tips for Ordering Gluten-Free at Red Robin.

5 Tips for Ordering Gluten-Free at Red Robin

  1. Visit the interactive allergen menu on Red Robin’s website. Choose your specific location, as ingredients can vary by restaurant. Select gluten-free and pick from So. Many. Options.
  2. Let the team members know you have celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or are otherwise on a gluten-free diet. While not factually correct, I often say, “I have celiac disease, a severe gluten allergy.” There is more awareness in the restaurant industry when you use the words “severe allergy” rather than just celiac disease.
  3. Ask for a manager. This is optional but is a best practice for making sure gluten-allergy protocols are followed.
  4. Chat with the manager about gluten cross-contact during preparation. Specifically, ask about:
    • A dedicated gluten-free fryer for fries
    • Clean cooking space for grilled items, like chicken and burgers
  5. Look for the purple pick when your food is served! This will let you know gluten-allergy protocols were followed and you have received the correct meal.
